Church and Dandelion Crowns!

We had another very nice outing to church today!  It definitely is more of an adventure here.  We leave about 9:50 and get back around 3:10 (church is from 11-2).  The girls love riding the metro and are getting quite good at navigating everything and knowing the number of stops we need to take and everything!  And we are still getting tons of stares every time we go out as a family (due to the number of kids; the average family here has 1 or 2 kids).  We take the double stroller with us and there are a lot of ups and downs on stairs as we enter/leave the metro, which makes things extra fun.  The last two Sundays we have had the senior volunteers (Bro. and Sis. John) helping us to/from church and the kids just love them!

Church in all Russian is interesting, but the kids seem to do just fine and they enjoy their primary classes!  Jacque and I just follow along with the English lesson manuals on our iPads, and that seems to work out fine.  I also have my trustee English-Russian dictionary on the iPad, so I can look stuff up they write on the board and such.  Good fun!

After church today, Amber and Lia ran up to us with dandelion crowns on (the junior primary class made them; there is not a shortage of dandelions here).  Sara was a little sad that she didn't have one (she is in the senior primary class), so the primary teacher took the kids out in the little grassy area outside the church building and made one for Sara before we left.  Sara was so excited, mostly because the teacher taught her how to make the crown!  So I am sure our girls will be making dandelion crowns a lot from now on each time we go to the park!

Now we are back at the apartment enjoying a quiet afternoon, with dinner and family/friend Skype sessions this evening!  A good day!

  1. I would like a dandelion crown! Tell Sara she will need to teach me when she's back.
